The Vessel Anushree, formerly known as Maratha Classic is a bulk carrier designed by GB Marine. The vessel has been designed for carrying iron ore, but is also capable of carrying containers and other types of cargo. It is has a design advantage in that it is able to operate within shallow rivers and inland waterways. The primary use of this size of bulk carrier is to support the loading and unloading operations of a larger mothership located offshore, one which is unable to access a country's rivers and inland waterways due to a larger draft. Instead, the bulkcarrier approaches the side of the mothership anchored offshore, facilitates transfer of cargo to the bulkcarrier, which then sets off further inland to deposit the same cargo. Similarly, it can load cargo from loading docks further inland, travel out to the ocean and unload upon the mothership.
